Faith Development

I had no idea that Bishopswood would be such a challenge for her at first, or that it would be such a pivotal experience in the long run.  It was, in the end, a Blessing with a capital "B".  There's no other word for it.    - Parentfaith development

Faith Development, like Bishopswood in general, is an inclusive, non-dogmatic environment where each child is invited to explore questions of spirituality in a way that feels comfortable and natural to him/her.  The work of Faith Development is community building and personal growth.  Living in community, we all hold “the mirror” for each other so that we can clearly witness the effects of our words and our actions.  Each member of the community is encouraged to ask the following question: “Am I the kind of friend I would like to have?”  Through stories, conversation, and play, campers learn to identify the special qualities and characteristics of that ideal friend.  This practice teaches children to recognize and affirm those divine qualities in themselves and in others.
