A Day at Camp Bishopswood

Each week he has spent at Bishopswood seems to increase his self-confidence.  He comes home humming a camp tune over and over again.  We are so happy to have a safe place for David to be independent.          - Parent

bathhouseThe morning quiet of the lake and woods is broken by the first bell of the day at 7:15, shortly followed by the “snooze alarm” bell at 7:30, and the hustle and bustle of a camp day begins.  Campers head back and forth to the bathhouse, get dressed for the day, and clean their cabins before heading to the Dining Hall.
songleading.JPGCampers are greeted by a staff member who leads the group in a song.  The staff member then invites campers in to breakfast, which begins at 8:00.  At the end of the meal, announcements are made before everyone is dismissed to prepare for their day of activities.
gi_25.jpgThere are six activity periods, three in the morning and three in the afternoon.  Each cabin group visits the Waterfront every morning for an hour of swimming and water safety instruction.  The other five activity periods are spent at Arts & Crafts, Camp Craft, Faith Development, Performing Arts, and Sports & Games.  Lunch is served at 12:15 and is followed by FOB (Flat On Bunk).
headshot15.jpgAfter three hours of afternoon activities, everyone returns to the Dining Hall at 5:45 for a delicious dinner.  Following the evening announcements, all are dismissed to Cabin Time.  The final bell of the day rings at 8:45.  Another full, fun day at Bishopswood is brought to a close with a special gathering called ACGN.
